Meet Karl Wunderlich 
Dr. Karl Wunderlich is a director within Noblis’ Federal Civilian Solutions mission area. Karl has been with Noblis since 1992 and has played a major role in building our surface transportation division, hiring and developing staff, overseeing task orders, authoring key customer deliverables and playing an integral part in the Noblis Sponsored Research (NSR) Program. Karl cultivates a cohesive, respectful and innovative team of engineers, planners, managers and data scientists, where everyone is valued. His passion for re-imagining transportation inspires his team every day, and under his leadership, the team finds innovative solutions to critical transportation challenges.

Through his work, Karl is making our nation safer by finding innovative ways to use artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches to safeguard vulnerable road users and improve travel for underserved populations.
He demonstrates his passion for excellence and innovation in his role as a technical advisor on numerous internal research projects, playing a crucial part in Noblis’ technological development. Karl also holds a patent for blockchain enabled cooperative autonomy and continues to lead the Noblis Autonomous Systems Research Center, conceptualizing transformative ideas around autonomy, blockchain and machine teaming.
